Boerne ISD State of the District

Boerne ISD: Strong Present, Bright Future

Early this year I attended Boerne Independent School District’s “State of the District” presentation. We have an amazing school system run by a fabulous group of dedicated educators, and I want to share with you just a few of their accomplishments in the last year.

Incredible academic achievement

Almost all of BISD’s schools made a list of top area schools in 2014; both high schools were named in a Newsweek study as being among America’s top 500 public high schools. And that’s just the beginning!

  • Students took over 1300 AP tests — 67% scored a 3 or higher
  • Students earned a composite score of 24.3 on the ACT, surpassing state and national averages
  • BISD had one of the highest high school completion rates in Texas — 99%!

This is a testament not only to the hard work of BISD students, but also the dedication of the district’s 950 employees, including teachers.

Continued growth

With BISD student enrollment at almost 8000, the Board of Trustees is doing some long-term planning. Big projects like adding classrooms and gymnasiums began as early as 2013, and in the next two years the district will add more space for band, culinary arts, and science, as well as entirely rebuild Fabra Elementary.

An amazing school district

Congratulations to BISD’s educators, students, parents, and Board of Trustees on their 2014 accomplishments! We are so proud to design and build custom homes in a city where students are nourished and encouraged to succeed.
