The punch list is a checklist of updates to be completed in the home prior to move-in. During walkthroughs, the homeowner and construction manager work together to inspect every area of the house and identify rooms and features that need attention. Everything from floors and walls to windows and appliances are assessed closely. Items that need attention are added to the punch list. This allows the builder to fix any cosmetic damage prior to move-in. A punch list can be three items or twenty depending on the frequency of walk throughs with the construction manager and the preferences of the homeowner.
Other items on the punch list may include:
- Paint touch-ups
- Tile work
- Exterior rock or brick
As the homeowner, it’s important to prepare for walkthroughs by gathering questions you’d like to ask your construction manager. Be prepared to take your time during a thorough review of the work that has been completed to date. It’s also valuable to take notes during the walkthrough so that you can reference them later.
It’s our job to not only prepare your home for move-in, but to help you along with the transition. Moving is never easy, so we’ve made it our mission to place standards and procedures in place to minimize miscommunication and maximize the enjoyment you’re sure to have in your home for years to come.
